Snow Cones, Cotton Candy and Smiles at the OC Rescue Mission
The Mission Viiejo Saddleback Valley Elks hosted a Kids Carnival at the Orange County Rescue Mission in Tustin, CA. More than 90 homeless children and their families had a fun-filled day with games & prizes, Petting Zoo, cotton candy, snow cones, hot dog lunch and bounce house. At right in center, Kayleigh Roenicke, Manager of Events, helped organize the Kids Carnival and greeted Exalted Ruler Derek Randles (L), Stephanie Bongartz (R) and the MV Elks volunteer team to the event.

The Mission Viejo Saddleback Valley Elks proudly announce we have a date set for our outdoor Kids Carnival at Orange CountyRescue Mission on August 23rd. This event will be very similar to the party that Stephanie has put on for the Orange county Cancer Kids for years. We will need helpers with the games, with the food, with setup and take down. The OC Rescue Mission is in Tustin and is a halfway type house for the homeless. There are around 90 children in the OC Rescue Mission homeless program. This event is part of Mission Viejo SV Elks community outreach program and a $2,000 grant received by the lodge for an event such as this.
The Kids Carnival and Party will run from 10am to 1pm, with set-up beginning at 8am. We need VOLUNTEERS for set-up, handling games and teardown. We will be serving hot dogs and chips to around 200 kids and their parents along with sno-cones and cotton candy. We need volunteers to run both machines.
We will need all the help that we had at the OCF fun day, so please spread the word. PLEASE get involved, you are going to have another great time helping children and their families.
For the good of the Lodge and Community.
