Mission Viejo Elks - Helping the Community

Posted October 8, 2014
Helping our Senior Member
On Sunday Oct 5th, your Lodge Community Outreach Program volunteers helped an elderly member in need. The team organized bright and early Sunday morning and arranged the vehicles and dollies and anything else required for the day’s event. One of our senior members of the Mission Viejo Elks Lodge needed to move to a new assisted living facility. Having no family in the area, his Elks family stepped in and took care of the details and moved his entire place early that day. We kicked the day off with donuts donated by Exalted Ruler Derek Randles, and once the sugar high kicked in, headed out to finish packing up the home. Thanks to the generosity of Walter Root, and members Gary Smith, Gary Bennington, Tom Banning, and new member Mike Piti, we were able to make the move in a single trip. Elks really do Care, Elks really do Share. The Community Outreach Program was created to help people and groups in our community in need. Last year we partnered with Rebuilding Together Orange County to fix several safety issues with a home for an elderly woman and her daughter in Lake Forest - all at no cost to them. The committee is funded by its own fund raising efforts or by grants from the Elks National Foundation.
