MV Elks Adopt a Military Family for Christmas
December 10, 2014
By Derek Randles

With the help of member and HUGE SUPPORTER Stephanie Bongartz, your Mission Viejo Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge adopted a neighborhood family for Christmas through the city’s outreach program! Please welcome Jamie and Carlo Kincaid and their children Victoria (13), John (4), Caitlyn (3) to our family, we are going to make their Christmas one to remember. Our Community Outreach Program has been pulling donations for more than a month to put towards food, clothing, toys, and a REAL CHRISTMAS TREE for this nice young family. Both Jamie and Carlo are Marine Corps Veterans and now live in our wonderful city. Our first task was to get this family a Christmas Tree, they have been using a 3 foot tree which was given to their son John several years ago – a tree that was so tiny it could not accept decorations. Through a generous gift from neighboring business Rudy’s Trees for a Cause – Lodge Trustee Gary Smith and I were able to deliver a beautiful 7 foot Noble Fir to the family, and we also included more than 350 lights to assure every neighbor knows they have a tree this year. The youngest daughter Caitlyn only wanted a dress as she loves dressing up. Guess what young lady; you now have NINE (9) NEW DRESSES so there will be plenty of dressing up in the house. John loves board games and also had very humble requests for gifts – we took it upon ourselves to assure he also has a really nice Christmas.

Along with toys and clothes for the kids, the Community Outreach Program are also providing canned goods, other staple items, and gift cards for turkey or other Christmas dinner ideas.

Thank you members and friends for all of your generosity, without your donations, the adoption of this family at Christmas time would not be possible. Stay tuned for other charitable sightings from your Community Outreach Program – or better yet, join us!
