The Mission Viejo Saddleback Valley Elks 2444 celebrated Veterans Day with a special meeting on November 11th. Scouts from Troop 603 started the ceremony and presented the colors, then Exalted Ruler, Derek Randles welcomed everyone to the evening. PER, Charlie Hart, led everyone in prayer then Master of Ceremonies and PER, Jim Humphrey, began the ceremony. Mission Viejo Veterans Chairman, Dennis Lumley, welcomed and thanked all the veterans in audience, then Lumley went on to share his recent visit to Veterans Hospital in Long Beach and meeting all the veterans in need. Guest Speaker, Jim Vecchio, PDDGER from La Habra Lodge spoke of heroism and valor followed by Dave Leckness, Former Mission Viejo City Councilman, who reminded everyone what a great country we live and how the veterans have sacrificed for all. Visiting Dignitaries in attendance were Trish Kelly, Former MV Mayor and Rhonda Reardon, Former Mayor along with City of Laguna Niguel Mayor Pro Tem, Jerry McCloskey. As the evening came to an end, Professional Trumpeter Drake Peterson performed Taps; Charlie Hart closed with a prayer and PER Derek Randles thanked all the Veterans for their sacrifice and everyone for attending.
