A Red Rose to All The Moms

The champagne was chilling as the room started filling. Family and friends were coming to enjoy and celebrate with their guest of honor. MOM. She is the ONE who can take the place of all others, but whose place NO one else can take. We celebrated by giving the moms a red rose and everyone a glass of champagne with their brunch. We served carved turkey and ham, Eggs Benedict, waffles, omelets made to order, pasta bar and more. We served over 175 meals thanks in part to an email sent by Katie Link to our members reminding them about our Mother's Day event, and to the many others that contributed behind the scenes. The kitchen staff of Pam and Ed Mackey, John Feitz, Mike Fenton, Gary Schmitt, Dennis Boelts and Donna Pettipas made things look easy. Jim Poterack carved up turkey and ham, Howard Sargent made waffles while Michelle Schmitt, Lia Faase and Diana Wilson served up everything from biscuits and gravy to Eggs Benedict. Kevin Hughes and David Tucker flipped over 70 omelets each and they attracted quite an audience. Dennis Boelts also fired up the pasta bar along with a few of his eyebrows.
I would also like to thank the rest of the team of Jim Romandi for greeting everyone, Barbara Hart, our cashier, Kathy Poterack and Pat Bower who handed out roses and plates while selling tickets to raffle off a gift bowl that was put together by Rosemary Miller. We also raffled off all the centerpieces that were masterfully crafted the day before by Pam McKay with the help of Mike and Judy Klinger, Cheryl Tucker and myself. Judy and Cheryl also performed multiple tasks on Sunday; preparing food, pouring champagne and washing dishes. Mike Klinger, as usual, brought it all to life with great photos for everyone to enjoy. Thank you everyone for making Mother's day a special day.
