Exalted Ruler Roast

ER Roast & Toast

February 27, 2016

By Mike Klinger

The Mission Viejo / Saddelback Valley Elks hosted the 2nd Annual Exalted Ruler Roast and put ER, Camacho Alvarez, on the receiving end of jabs and stabs by the creative guests and members. Master of Ceremonies, Harvey Ohman, broke the ice with his lively one-liners about marriage, driving skills, Hispanic life and family, and of course Camacho’s height-challenged stature. Leading Knight, Dave McLeod (ER Elect), presented Camacho with a step-stool that we all wished he had during Lodge meetings this past year so the members could at least see him behind the podium. Lodge Esquire, Mike Klinger, thru in a few one-liners and gave Camacho a handy, large supply of napkins for his beer bottle wiping fetish.

PDDGER, Norm Jones, noted Camacho’s tireless efforts of lodge sports fundraising and Gloria LeCourve, PER thanked Camacho for his efforts and now becoming the shortest PER at MV Elks. Pat Martino, PER explained how Camacho talks so fast no one can understand him and Derek Randles, PER labeled Camacho as MIA at many lodge events. Lecturing Knight Mike Long and Veterans Coordinator, Dennis Lumley continued with their favorite digs from the past year. Camacho finished up the evening roast with his own style of slams at the presenters, all in fun of course. As the evening came to an end, all guests were treated to an all-you-can-eat Taco Bar on the patio as the mingling and fellowship continued into the night. Special Thanks to Basia Bills, Lorene Tierney and others who helped set-up the Roast Room for the event.
