The Mission Viejo Elks hosted their annual Valentines Day Senior Dance at Mission Viejo - Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge #2444 on Sunday February 14, in association with the Norman P Murray Community & Senior Center.
One hundred and thirty two seniors from our local community filled the banquet tables in the Mission Viejo Elks Lodge room and graced the dance floor, dancing to the beautiful music of Boyd Garrison for hours. Mr. Garrison performed on keyboard and sang popular hits of the 50's and 60's, from the likes of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Astrud Gilberto and Stan Getz. Jim Glover of the Elks entertainment committee was key in obtaining the delightful entertainment for the evening.
Those in attendance came elegantly dressed in shades of red and other romantic colors, sharing good times with friends, old and new, while filling the hall with fun, laughter and smiles. The banquet tables in the Elks Lodge Room were beautifully decorated by Elks Vicky Long, Sandy and Jack Jacobs, in treatments of red, white and pink with pretty floral centerpieces and delicately placed Valentines candies.
A scrumptious dinner of chicken cordon bleu, sautéed vegetables, rice pilaf, caesar salad, and cake was lovingly prepared by an Elks kitchen crew of Vicky Long, Laura Lumley, Cheryl and Dave Tucker. Dinner was served by the friendly young ladies from Coach Rick Hart's Laguna Hills High School Girls Lacrosse Team.
Mike Klinger, Elks Lodge Esquire, webmaster and photographer captured sensational photographs of this cherished special event. Elks members Gail Patti, Carol and Lloyd Bryan, Judy and Mike Klinger all cheerfully stayed to clean up the hall after the event. With much gratitude, we give thanks to all our friendly Elks volunteers that made this a very special day for everyone in attendance.
A great big thank you to Linda Teichmann of the Norman P Murray Community & Senior Center for her work in advertising and successfully selling out this annual event, checking in all attendees on event day and donating a beautiful gift basket to a lucky rafflewinner.
Norman P Murray was a past mayor for the city of Mission Viejo and a Past Exalted Ruler of Mission Viejo - Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge #2444.
