ELKS INITIATE FOURTEEN NEW MEMBERS AND PARTICIPATE IN THE CITY OF MISSION VIEJO’S WALK AGAINST DRUGS

The October initiation of new members saw fourteen local men and women become members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Initiated into the Order from Lake Forest were: Mike Miller, Christopher Kenyon, Dave Holthaus, and Gary Clabaugh. Mission Viejo residents were: Ray Ruiz, Gina Vanderthee, Ed Rodriguez, David Golaz, and Richard Lisi. Also initiated were: Jessica Mossey of Fallbrook, David Sandberg of Orange, Robert Weiman of Laguna Hills, Jack Beau of Laguna Niguel, and Roger Carmody of Huntington Beach.

In other Elks news, members of the Elks Lodge handed out drug awareness brochures to the over 2,000 parents and youngsters that participated in the City of Mission Viejo’s Annual Walk against Drugs. The event walk started at the Mission Viejo High School stadium and ended at the Village Green at Oso Viejo Park directly adjacent to the Norman P. Murray Community Center. The Elks volunteering at the Elks booth, distributed: Elks “Proud to be Drug Free” red ribbons, American Flags, patriotic stickers, coloring books and Elks youth program information and About Our Flag brochures. The Elks also administered a drug awareness quiz to the youth which were then entered into a drawing for five (5) $25.00 gift certificates donated by Big 5 Sporting Goods. Elks participating in this year’s event were: Charles T. Hart Past Exalted Ruler (PER), Mike Long PER, Irene Romero PER, Jamie Camunas Exalted Ruler, Debby Lamb, Lauren Perry Lodge Chaplain, Stewart Urquhart Loyal Knight, Tenisha Campanile, and Jennie Buford.
