Our Elk of the Month for February is no stranger to hard work and volunteering. Alan Harkness is one of the hardest working Charity BINGO team members in the lodge. Since his initiation in August 2013, Alan immediately found a home supporting Charity BINGO; working early Wednesday morning set-up to organizing games and packages, to calling the early-bird games to late night clean-up and teardown. Charity BINGO co-manager and Trustee, Larry Colgan, states that “Alan will do anything asked of him to make every Wednesday successful for the lodge and our community of players”.

Part of Alan’s working career centered at the SCE San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant where he was a supervisor until SCE decommissioned the power plant. Now, when Alan isn’t calling BINGO numbers, Alan spends his time giving guided tours and nature walks in conjunction with the Dana Point Ocean Institute.  But there is more to Charity BINGO than just every Wednesday. On numerous occasions Alan has joined the Charity BINGO team at Camp Pendleton to serve dinner at the Summer Beach Party and most recently serving lunch to our troops during the holidays. Next time you see Alan, thank him for all his hard work on Wednesdays. Good luck…Alan never sits still, but you can give him a wave as he jets in between the players tables. He is busy selling the next game! Thanks Alan for all your hard work at OUR lodge.
