Mission Viejo, Saddleback Valley Elks begin the Elk new year by welcoming seven new members.
New Elks from Mission Viejo are Barbara Boteler and Helen Fiamengo. Also becoming members are Christopher Doherty of Trabuco Canyon, Derrik Coles of Lake Forest, Gilbert Travis of Laguna Hills, Judy Wiley of Portola Hills, and Patrick Cardinale of Dove Canyon. The new corps of Lodge officers led by Lodge President Exalted Ruler Jamie Camunas performed the impressive and time honored ritual of initiation.
April and May are busy months at the Elks Lodge as members sponsor a Best Buddies Spring Dance, a Red Cross Blood Drive, a special meeting at 7:00pm on May 7th honoring the outstanding youth of the Saddleback Valley community. The meeting will play tribute to local student achievers in Athletics, Scouting, Essay Contest winners and Elks Scholarship winners. Local Mayors and city officials are expected to attend the event which will be open to the public. The Lodge will also be the scene of the Adult Transition Program Dance in May.
The Mission Viejo / Saddleback Elks Lodge No. 2444, celebrating forty-nine (49) years of service to the Saddleback Valley communities, is one of eight lodges in the Orange Coast District of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) whose headquarters is in Chicago, Illinois. The BPOE is a charitable organization with a 150 year history of giving, “Elks Care, Elks Share.”
